Man Guilty Of Stealing Guitars From Wheaton Coll.

Former Maintenance Man Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) ― A former maintenance man at Wheaton College's Billy Graham Center is heading to prison for stealing three vintage guitars from a locked storage room at the facility.

Under the sentence handed down Friday by DuPage County Associate Judge Mark Dwyer, 41-year-old Timothy Cavalieri of Elburn must serve half of his three-year prison prison term for felony theft before being eligible for parole. He also was ordered to pay nearly $1,560 in restitution to the guitars' owner.

A DuPage County jury deliberated for less than an hour last month before convicting Cavalieri of stealing a 1983 Fender Stratocaster Elite, a Charvel Surfcaster and an Ibanez AR in March of last year. Two of the guitars were sold on the Internet, and only the Fender was recovered.
