Sister Testifies To Stebic Grand Jury
JOLIET, Ill. (STNG) ―
The younger sister of missing Plainfield mother Lisa Stebic testified Thursday before a special grand jury investigating Stebic's disappearance.
Jamie Bouma declined to comment on her testimony as she left the county building in downtown Joliet.
She said it was her first time testifying before the grand jury, which was convened late last year.
Lisa Stebic was last seen April 30, 2007, at her Plainfield home. She was reported missing the next morning by a neighbor. No trace of her has been found.
Police have named her husband, Craig, a "person of interest" in the case.
The grand jury has heard from a number of witnesses, including the Stebics' two children; Craig's father, Joe Stebic; the Stebics' neighbors, Lisa's co-workers; and former WMAQ-TV NBC 5 Chicago reporter Amy Jacobson.
Those called to testify have told jurors about everything from Lisa's personal character to hunting trips to conversations with Craig.
Meanwhile, a possible settlement in the grandparent visitation case filed by Lisa's parents and grandparents was still being negotiated Thursday, a family spokeswoman said.
Lawrence and Judith Ruttenberg and Milton and Charlotte Ruttenberg petitioned for grandparent visitation rights to the Stebic children, ages 11 and 13.
Lawyers in the visitation case are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
