Pieces Of Naperville's Sept. 11 Memorial Stolen

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Naperville Sun) ― Police in west suburban Naperville are searching for those responsible for breaking in and stealing pieces of the city's Sept. 11 memorial.

The incident happened Wednesday, sometime between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., according to a release from Naperville Crime Stoppers.

Someone broke the seal to the plexi-glass covering the memorial, the release said. Concrete pieces from the rubble of the damaged portion of the Pentagon were stolen.

Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call (630) 420-6006.

The memorial, dedicated on Sept. 11, 2003, is located on the Riverwalk behind Naperville's City Hall.
