A 30-year-old west suburban woman is dead and after a car hit her and her two children on Tuesday in LaGrange.
A car headed east on 47th Street at 8th Avenue crashed into Cari Cook, 30, of Countryside, who was walking with her 4-month-old son and 2-year-old daughter, LaGrange police said.
Cook and her children were taken to Adventist LaGrange Memorial Hospital, where Cook was later pronounced dead, police said. Her infant son suffered a broken leg, while her daughter was examined and released.
The Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and the Cook County State's Attorney's office are helping with the investigation, but the driver had not been arrested or charged as of Wednesday morning.
The police news release did not specify whether the accident was a hit-and-run, or whether alcohol, speed or other factors played a role.
