Threatening Graffiti Puts E. Aurora High On Alert
AURORA, Ill. (CBS) ―
A threatening message written on a bathroom wall has put East Aurora High School on alert Monday, according to a news release from the school district.
A student notified officials about the graffiti and the building was immediately placed under restriction and the Aurora police began an investigation, according to the release.
Random metal detector searches were enforced throughout the remainder of the school day and plans are in place to conduct additional random metal detector searches.
The Aurora Police Department has assigned additional police security in and around East Aurora High School through Tuesday, the release said.
Police will also conduct searches of the school campus with canine units.
Students' parents were notified using District 131's emergency phone system.
Classes will proceed as normal. Parents may contact the school with any questions by calling (630) 299-8000.
