Craig Stebic Requests Guns, Cars Back From Police

Plainfield Man's Wife Has Been Missing Since 2007

CHICAGO (CBS) ― The husband of a missing Plainfield mother is trying to get his guns and cars back from police.

Investigators seized the property from Craig Stebic last year after his wife vanished from their home.

Stebic's lawyer filed papers Thursday to have his client's guns and cars returned, saying investigators have had enough time to analyze them and have no legal right to keep them.

The case will be discussed in Will County court Tuesday morning.

Stebic's request comes after a judge ruled Drew Peterson's property – including guns, computers and cars -- must be returned by police after they seized them in a November search.

Hours later, however, the Illinois State Police revoked Peterson's firearm owner's identification card.

Peterson is a suspect in his wife's disappearance.
