Motorist Fatally Crushed By Own SUV

WEST DUNDEE, Ill. (STNG) ― A woman was killed Saturday afternoon after being crushed by the sport-utility vehicle she was driving outside her northwest suburban West Dundee home.

A woman backing a Dodge Durango into her driveway at 17N486 Route 31 exited the SUV without putting it in park and was crushed about 1:30 p.m., according to a release from the Kane County Sheriff's Department.

It was not known why she exited the SUV, but a preliminary investigation indicates she failed to put the vehicle in park and either tripped or was dragged down by the vehicle, the release said. The SUV continued to move and rolled over the woman.

Jacqueline Hansen, 38, was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin where she was pronounced dead, the release said.

Nobody else was in the SUV and foul play is not suspected.

The Kane County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
