Woman Rescued From Burning Car, Charged With DUI

Car Burst Into Flames After Crash On Route 53 In Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) ― An incredible rescue followed a fiery crash in southwest suburban Bolingbrook early Tuesday, but the driver was later charged with driving drunk.

A woman was driving north on Route 53 near Interstate 55 before 6 a.m. when she crashed head-on into a semi-trailer truck.

Her car jumped the highway wall, ended up in a restaurant parking lot in pieces, and burst into flames.

The driver was rescued by Good Samaritans on the scene. They left after rescuing the woman and did not want to be identified.

After the rescue, the woman was charged with mutliple offenses, including driving drunk, and not having a driver's license or insurance, Bolingbrook police told CBS 2's Jim Williams.

CBS 2's Jim Williams contributed to this report.
