Man Tries To Abduct Boy Walking To Aurora School

AURORA, Ill. (STNG) ― Police are searching for the driver of a van who attempted to abduct a fourth-grade student as he walked to school Thursday morning in west suburban Aurora.

The incident occurred about 8:20 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Spencer Street and 5th Avenue, according to an alert from East Aurora School District 131.

The boy was walking with three siblings to Gates Elementary School at 800 7th Ave. when an older model brown van with gray/white trim pulled up to the curb and a man opened the door and attempted to abduct him, according to the alert.

The four siblings ran home and reported the incident to Aurora police. The vehicle had not been located as of early Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the van was identified as a middle-aged white male, and the passengers were two middle-aged male, one black and one Hispanic, the alert said. One of the passengers was reportedly carrying a pistol. The black passenger tried to abduct the boy, the alert said.
