Burglar Goes On Smut Stealing Spree At Adult Store
Hundreds Of DVDs and Toys Stolen From Joliet Store
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A burglar went gonzo grabbing items from an adult video store last week in southwest suburban Joliet.
Early on April 28, hundreds of adult DVDs and toys were stolen from Simply Sensual at 1901 E. Washington St.
According to reports, the intruder pried the telephone box from the rear of the building, disabling the phones and alarms. The power was also cut when the electric meter was ripped off and the burglar took out a window to get inside.
"He got almost 500 DVDs," owner Al Kurtz said. The movies are stored in sleeves in one area, while their empty cases are displayed throughout the shop.
It appears the thief also has interests outside of watching television.
"He grabbed everything. He also took all kinds of lubes, condoms, packages of [a male enhancement drug] and women's shoes," Kurtz said.
Police believe the burglar left through a door, which Kurtz found open around 11 a.m.
"They'll probably try and dump the stuff [for sale]," Kurtz speculated. "We're going through invoices now for police and the insurance company, but there's inventory and we're doing well."
