Former Gymnastics Coach Gets More Jail Time
WHEATON (AP) ―
A former gymnastics coach who is serving a 20-year prison term for molesting several young girls received an additional three-year sentence today for harassing a witness in the case.
The DuPage County state's attorney's office says Michael Cardamone was ordered to serve the three-year bid after he completes the other sentence.
Cardamone was convicted earlier this month of witness harassment and disorderly conduct for making a false police report in 2004 alleging traffic violations by a witness in his molestation case.
Cardamone was accused of molesting seven gymnasts between 1999 and 2002 at his family owned American Institute of Gymnastics and Preschool in Aurora.
Prosecutors say he touched the girls inappropriately during stretching exercises and in a private room at the gym.
Cardamone has said he never molested or abused any of the girls.
