Texas City To Vote On "Pull 'Em Up" Campaign

FORT WORTH, Texas (CBS) ― The Fort Worth City Council wants to send a message to young people who wear baggy pants: Pull 'em up!

The city council will vote on a resolution Tuesday that would support Dallas' educational "Pull 'Em Up" campaign.

Dallas City Councilperson Dwaine Caraway started the campaign last year.
Campaign efforts expanded on January 4 when billboards popped up in Dallas, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Glenn Heights and Coppell.

On the billboards, a grandmother tells a young person to pull up their saggy pants.

"Grandmothers are the most respected and revered figures in our community and youngsters listen to the advice of their grandmother, so were hoping the next phase of this campaign resonates with our target audience," Caraway said.

The idea is gaining national attention. Caraway will appear on the Dr. Phil show to talk about the campaign later this month.

"It's a disrespect, number one, to themselves and then it's a disrespect for all females," Caraway said.
