An Arlington, Texas, family has a message for a burglar: "Keep all the possessions you took, just return the dog."
Just before Thanksgiving, the Pyatt family came home to their apartment to find a terrible surprise, reports CBS station KTVT-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth
"The first thing I noticed the door was open," father Michael Pyatt explained. "I thought maybe my wife came home early."
But his wife wasn't home. The Pyatt's had been burgled. The television, their wedding rings and other jewelry were all gone. But most shockingly, the thieves also took their puppy, Bella, from her cage. Bella is 4-year-old Alysha Pyatt's dog.
"That's my daughter's dog, y'know?" Michael Pyatt said frustrated. "I don't know how can take something away from a four-year-old."
The little girl described her beloved pet. "She's a little bitty Yorky," the girl said. "I played with her a lot."
"Alysha really got to see the whole pregnancy of the dog," her father said of the bond between his daughter and her pet. "She saw the birth. Then she just waited patiently for the six weeks, for the whole weaning process. My daughter's just known her [Bella] since day one."
The family doesn't care if they get back the electronics, jewelry, or even the wedding rings. They say those things can be replaced.
They just want the dog returned - no questions asked.
"I miss her," Alysha said. "And she misses me too."
The family posted flyers offering a reward around the apartment complex. It reads, in part, "We're all devastated." They're hoping even a hardened criminal would see them over the holidays and have a heart and return Bella.
