N.Y. Boy Takes Grandmother's Truck For Joyride

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (CBS) ― It was one wild ride for a 5-year-old boy who was able to start his grandmother's pick-up truck -- without the keys, CBS station WCBS-TV in New York reports.

It happened in the Buffalo suburb of Jamestown, and the chaos that ensued was all caught on surveillance video.

On the tape, the 5-year-old is seen getting into the truck, and with the keys is able to turn the ignition and start the engine. About a minute later, you see the wipers go on, then a blinker and then the headlights.

At about this time, another vehicle -- a van -- pulls up.

"And I thought, 'What is he doing in there by himself?'" the driver said.

Before the other driver knew it, the kindergartner was off to the races.

"He went in a circle and came back into the parking lot and was headed for the rear end of my car, so I pulled out," she said.

"That little boy was very familiar with that truck."

And he kept going right out of the picture. He ended up crossing the street and slamming into a brick house.

The air bag deployed. The truck was totaled. It was in the junkyard on Friday, where the ignition was tested and still started without a key.

The boy suffered a broken arm in the crash.

At this point, no charges have been filed against the grandmother.
