CHICAGO (CBS) ― Students from the University of Chicago are off on a multistate scavenger hunt early this morning.

The four-day event sends teams of students hunting for obscure items in eight different states. The teams are organized by dormitories.

The list includes encrypted clues, riddles and items that seem impossible to get.

Last year's list called for an actual Nobel Prize. And teams had to answer the question: "According to part 31 of the audio tour in the Museum of Earth History, how did kangaroos get to Australia?"

In past years, students have constructed and held battles between fire-throwing robots in the U of C's Hutchinson Commons, and back in 2001, some students even fulfilled a mission to play the video game Super Mario Bros. on the Jumbotron at what is now U.S. Cellular Field.

Rules for the scavenger hunt are strict and each item must be obtained legally.

Teams will be judged on their efforts on Sunday on the university's campus.
