Darron Brewer is charged with conspiring with his brother to murder his wife, Kenatae Collier.

A Chicago man plotted the murder of his wife to collect a $100,000 insurance policy and cover up his brother's rape of his wife several weeks earlier, prosecutors said Friday.
Darron Brewer, 22, of the 3700 block of West Belden was ordered held without bond Friday on a first-degree murder charge.
Brewer's brother, 20-year-old Dujuan Powe of the 6800 block of South Prairie Avenue, was also charged Friday with first-degree murder, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton. He is expected for a bond hearing on Saturday.
Brewer and Powe planned to meet at a gas station at 59th and Elizabeth. Early Monday, Brewer drove his Chevy Monte Carlo to the station and his brother approached wearing a "Scream"-type mask, prosecutors said.
Powe implied he was carrying a gun and jumped into the car as Brewer's wife, Kenyatae Collier-Brewer, and their two children, Darron, 9 months; and Darriona, 1, sat in the back.
At an unknown location, Powe ordered Collier-Brewer into the trunk, police said. Brewer got onto the northbound Dan Ryan (I-90/94). The trunk popped open, they stopped again and the brother closed it, authorities said.
Brewer drove to his home, where he and his children got out, prosecutors said. The brother continued to the 2200 block of North Tripp where he shot Collier-Brewer twice in the head and left her in the trunk, abandoning the vehicle, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Jodi Peterson.
Brewer later called police to say he located the car.
Brewer, who has a previous conviction for financial fraud, gave a videotaped confession to Grand and Central detectives, prosecutors said.
Police recovered a .380-caliber handgun from the apartment of the brother's girlfriend. Illinois State Police tested the gun and confirmed it was the murder weapon, prosecutors said.
Brewer will appear for a preliminary court hearing Nov. 18.
