Woman Searches For Camera With Priceless Photos

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A Missouri woman is hoping someone can help her get back precious memories which were stolen from her family during a visit to Chicago. The last video images and pictures of her brother who died from cancer a few weeks ago were among the belongings she lost when someone broke into her van.

CBS 2's Mai Martinez talked to the woman via satellite about what the loss means for her family.

From the pictures they have of their Chicago trip, it looks like the Reller family was having a great time, but that changed Wednesday on the 2200 block of W. North Ave. when someone stole the family's video and digital cameras, along with a laptop and other items, from their minivan.

"I immediately, immediately began to cry because I knew what was on the cameras," Brooke Reller said.

What was on those cameras were the last images of her brother, Kenny Burbridge, who died from cancer in June.

"It's devastating to know that it could be gone forever. I just want whoever took it or whoever has it, just to have a heart, and please, please, please return it," Reller said. "They mean everything because there aren't many pictures or videos of my brother left."

Reller is so desperate to get the images of her brother back, she's even posted this ad on Craigslist offering a $1000 reward for each item returned with the original data still on it.

"Meaning per camcorder, the DSLR, the point and shoot camera, and the laptop, so a total of $4000," Reller said.

Reller says to sweeten the deal, there will be no questions asked if the items are returned, and the police will not be contacted.

"They can keep the cameras if it's that important to them," she said. "I just really want the video files back and the photo files. They mean so much to my family and without them, I'm always going to have a piece of my heart broken."

Reller says a man working at a pawn shop in the area told her shortly after the items were stolen, two men tried to sell them to him but he declined because they were not in any of the pictures on the camera.

If you have any information that might help Reller recover the stolen images, please contact her directly at hawksnest7@yahoo.com.
