Second to losing the groom, having your wedding dress stolen before the wedding is a bride's worst nightmare.
Tuesday night, a woman is drying her eyes and wondering why anyone would walk away with her dress. CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports on the story.
Jamie Black is a groom-to-be trying to make everything OK for his stressed-out fiancée, Eula Strickland.
"Somehow I'm going to find a way something, somehow," Black said. "I'm devastated; I don't even know what to say."
On Tuesday, just five days before their scheduled "I do's" in Jamaica and hours before their flight out of the country, Strickland went out to her car and discovered someone had stolen her wedding dress out of the trunk. The Sebring was parked on 69th Street, near Harper, in front of her apartment. Both Strickland and Black believe someone pried open the already damaged trunk and simply walked off with the gown and a set of Pyrex bowls, never disturbing the inside of the car.
"Why? A dress you can't fit a plus sized dress, what are you going to do with it?" Strickland said.
She says she kept the $400 dress in her trunk a few days to keep it away from her cat's claws. Now, she said she feels stupid.
The couple called police. Jamie even searched the neighborhood, just in case. He says he'd love it if the dress just reappeared on their doorstep. In the meantime, he's doing his best to console his future wife.
