Suburban Warehouse Theft Loss Estimated At $500K

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― Police are investigating the theft of a merchandise-filled trailer and electronics from a northwest suburban warehouse, where the loss was estimated at $500,000.

The theft happened at Hyper Microsystems in the 200 block of Hastings Drive in Buffalo Grove sometime between Friday morning and Saturday morning, according to Buffalo Grove police Cmdr. Steve Husak.

Police were notified after maintenance employees noticed the locks to overhead doors on three trailers had been cut off.

A trailer full of merchandise valued at $200,000 was taken from the warehouse, along with assorted electronics valued at $300,000, police said.

Husak said the company is a holding facility that has been leased to a variety of companies within the past few years. The stolen merchandise was primarily electronics, such as computers, VCRs and DVDs.

No one was in custody as of Monday morning, Husak said.
