  We asked you how you think Todd Stroger is performing as president of the Cook County Board. Here is what you had to say.


Poorly, if he was a CEO he would have been fired a while ago. His father at least surrounded himself with the best and the brightest. Todd does not share the resumes of his appointee which demonstrates his lack of understanding of what each position he puts them in. In stead of showing his pride in his choices -he deseeves the public and makes them pay dearly for his choices. He and his buddies have terminated some really good workers who produced and hired hacks. Who just show up and play the entitlement card. The press should check on how many days he actually works and the amount of time he spends each working day working. It is an embarassment to say that you live in Cook County. --Marc

Anyone who thinks this waste of space is doing a great job, or even a passable job, must work for him. King Todd, who calls himself "President of Cook County" in his blog, rather than the correct "President of the Cook County Board" needs to be ousted from his post, taking his political cronies along with him. Disgracefully, shameful, this man does not have one ounce of honesty in his bones. As a Democrat I did not vote for him. He is being lead by the biggest chaster of them all William Beavers. I will be so glad to see when the people of Cook County vote him out of office. Whoever runs against him should win by a landslide. His actions as county board president has been deplorable, he was a man with no expierence and shows it every day. He not only a disgusting cook county board president, he's a disgusting individual. He does not care for the tax payers, the county workers or anyone else. He only cares for his family and friends whose salaries surpass ten county employees salaries. I regret voting for him. To me that was a waste of my vote. Todd Stroger thinks he is above answering to anyone. If his cousin feels she is justified in making a six figure salary because she is working 12 to 17 hours a day then she should quit, get a job working less hours and let someone more qualified who would accept a less salary person fill her position. We need an outside accounting firm to check those books to see where the money really has been spent these past decades. --Conrad N.

I think Todd Stroger is doing a horrible job of running the county. I think he lied to the people of Cook County & Chicago. I think a stray rabid animal could manage the County better. Todd is bleeding tax payers to death so that he can hire his friends and relatives for undeserved amounts of money. I thought his father had some questionable actions that he needed to answer for but after looking at Todd Stroger his father is starting to look like a saint. He should fired...publicly. His sister/cousin/best friends wife that he continues to dole money out to...should be fired as well. I think he's a coward and a crook because he skated in on his fathers name and has used that to bilk the citizens of Chicago and the citizens of Cook County. Anytime he does something questionable he has this 'and there's nothing that you can do about it because I am in charge' look....instead of humbly trying to explain the rationale or reason behind his decision. The only reason Todd Stroger is is office is because suburban Cook County did not vote in the primary. I worked for Claypool. Many Cook County hospital emplyees worked at Claypool's headquarters because hospital conditions were so bad. On primary day, I was a poll runner in DesPlaines. I was appalled at the low turn out at the precints-10-15%, but in Chicago people were taken to the polls to vote by the Stroger faithful. The only way we can get rid of him is to wake up suburban Cook County and make them understand how important the primary is.Since I work in Lake County, I buy gas and do as much shopping as possible in Lake County just to avoid the Cook County tax. --Marianne Flanagan

I am so glad that I did not support this bum when John Stroger asked Todd to be the board president in his place. I think Todd Stroger is the worst Cook Count Board President in the history of Illinois. I've already written to Mayor Daley - I am now quite dissatisfied with his performance as an elected representive. I have been a life-long Democrat and have lived in Chicago for 20 years. I will be hard pressed to vote for him when his office is put before the electorate for review. Someone needs to tell him that he needs to quit hiring friends and family in an effort to maintain some sort of patronage system. Someone needs to tell him that he needs to seriously figure out how to remove the layers of bureaucracy that bloat the budget and force tax increases. The problem with this city and state right now is patronage, favoritism and the almighty dollar. I have applied to get city jobs and state jobs I was more than qualified for, but because I didn't know anyone I didn't get the job. I was unemployed and went to Ald. It's amazing to me how his incompetence seems to increase his arrogance. He is spending millions of dollars on public relations to try to put lipstick on the pig of an agency which he is supposed to be managing.
