Neighbors Remember the Vaughn Family
Wounded Father and Husband Spending Time with Parents
by Pamela Jones
Channahon, Ill. (CBS) ―
More questions than answers Saturday evening in the mysterious murders of a woman and her three children.
CBS 2's Northwest Indiana Bureau Chief Pamela Jones reports on the latest investigation into the Vaughn family murders.
Neighbors said Christopher Vaughn, a grieving father and husband, is spending time with his parents away from home.
CBS 2 was told he did return to Oswego early Saturday morning to gather some belongings, and that he's not considered a suspect in the case.
The Chicago Tribune reports Vaughn continues to cooperate with police investigating the shooting deaths of his wife and three children. Police found them dead inside the SUV they were riding in Thursday. The vehicle was parked just off Frontage Road, near I-55 in Channahon Township. Police say Vaughn was wounded in the thigh.
A neighboring family tended a small memorial for the family.
"We are missing them more because we are friends," said Sumbul Nazir. "They are nice people. Their kids are very cute."
Fellow neighbor Farzana Ansar, still can't believe they are gone. The neighbors were good friends with 34-year-old Kimberly Vaughn because she was a homemaker and spent a lot of time at home.
Police are still reviewing the pattern of the gunshots and other evidence that will be key to mapping out how the incident happened.
