Bond was set at $200,000 Thursday for a 17-year-old Chicago Public Schools student charged Thursday with sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl.
Remonse Holt, 17, of the 2300 block of South Kostner Avenue is charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to police, who said Holt is a Dunbar High School student.
Judge Israel Desierto set bond at $200,000 during a Thursday hearing, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.
Holt is the son of the victim's mother's boyfriend, according to court records. The alleged sexual assault happened on Sept. 8 in their home in the 6800 block of South Wabash Avenue, though the victim said there was a pattern of abuse between December 2008 and May 2009.
On Sept. 8, the victim's mother left Holt and the girl, along with two younger siblings -- a newborn and a 2-year-old -- at home, court records indicated. During that time, Holt sexually assaulted the 7-year-old, whose mother came home and found Holt with his pants down and the girl lying on her stomach.
Holt jumped up and ran into another bedroom, while the victim's mother asked what he had done. She took the girl to Comer Children's Hospital for an evaluation, where the victim told her mother what Holt had done. She told her mother it had happened on several occasions, court records said.
Holt was arrested at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dunbar Vocational Career Academy High School at 3000 S. King Dr., according to police.
