CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A 16-year-old girl who was wounded in a shooting on the Southwest Side late Thursday has died.

The girl, identified as Racheal Beauchamp, of 3030 S. Keeley St., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, was in a vehicle traveling east on the 2500 block of West 42nd Street when somebody fired shots into the vehicle about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Beauchamp was struck in the head by the gunfire. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, according to the medical examiner's office.
