CHICAGO (CBS) ― A windy snowstorm is moving out to the east, but it is still causing major problems for travelers at O'Hare International Airport.

The storm that blasted snow showers and whipping winds into the Chicago area on Friday has now moved to the east. But the storm has meant cancellations of hundreds of flights at O'Hare, because of weather problems outside the Chicago area.

As of noon Saturday, the Chicago Department of Aviation reported 150 flights canceled at O'Hare. Earlier, the estimate had been 300.

No flights had been canceled at Midway International Airport on Saturday morning, and some airlines were still trying to catch up from the hundreds of flights canceled in the past two days.

As of 8 a.m. Saturday, the temperature was 23 degrees at CBS 2 studios, and there were still snow flurries in the air throughout much of the Chicago area.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Jeff Taylor says the snow is expected to come to an end later in the day. The wind is not as oppressive as on Friday, but still much stronger than usual, with speeds of 15 mph. Gusts of 30 mph have been reported in Gary, Ind.

The Department of Streets and Sanitation had sent out a fleet of snow fighting trucks beginnign Thursday night. But on Saturday at noon, they were sent home as the threat of further snow dissipated.

The high on Saturday is only 28 degrees.
