Viewer Comments: McCain's Choice Of Palin For VP
We asked viewers what they think of John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for vice president. Here are some of your comments:
Very dissapointed Mc Cain /Mitt Romney would have been perfect and a sure win sonia
Losing ticket of candidates. Mrs. Palin needs to stay home with her young children who need a Mom more than a VP. How can a mother of a special needs child desert her child and fly around the world as a VP? I am a working mother and would never leave town for work over taking care of my children. This concretes my choice today. I will be voting for Obama and Biden. dee
I think McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate is a mistake. It takes away his major argument, that Obama is too inexperience for the responsibilities of the office. It seems that he picked Palin to satisfy women voters and hardcore Republicans. I think that the choice is shortsighted and will bring up more issues that hurt him than help him. GO OBABMA!!!! Chelsea
this is a political distraction from the issues now it's exceptable to have a 44 year old inexperienced person in the white house and if something she happen to McCain she is capable of running this country. Either the Republicans are down right stupid or this country has greater issues when it comes to race. This is a sad choice compared to all others he could have chosen who were truly qualified I know i will not vote Republican. Thelma
Bad choice for McCain. Its obviously a ploy to get the woman vote. McCain will not be getting my vote nor my daughter's vote. Cheryl
Alaska has no budget problems! Every taxpayer get a check from the state. It might even make sense for a goveror of a state that is two time zones from the rest of the country to have a plane. Just proves McCain is out of touch with reality. Ron
McCain's attempt at gaining Hillary supporters by selecting a women for VP is a slap in the face to women. Does he really think that Hillary supporters are that naive? Susan
I am thrilled, I am excited. Please, let the women of America get behind this incredible team and VOTE! Connie
The reason McCain picked Palin is because he knows the only way he'll have a chance to win the election is if he can hold on to bitter Hillary supporters' votes. It could only be more obvious if Hillary herself became McCain's running mate.
I hope Hillary supporters see the light and vote for anyone besides McCain(like Ralph Nader or Bob Barr). A McCain presidency might just be the final nail in the United States' coffin. Richard
McCain's choice for a running mate is quite telling. He, or his handlers, think he can bring in the votes of women by selecting someone who happens to be a woman. However, her record, paltry as it is, is regressive in terms of women's issues. What is worse, she is under investigation in her home state for abusing the power of her office for having the ex-husband of her sister fired from his job as state trooper, apparently only for personal revenge. Not only is the illegal, it is positively Nixonian. Unlike President Nixon, however, she has no experience whatsoever in matters of foreign relations. She tried to offer a $150 bounty for every wolf hunters killed in Alaska, but the courts stopped her from making this offer, which would have been in violation of the very laws of her state. How anyone could imagine her fit to hold the second highest executive office in our great country is beyond credulity. This is yet more evidence that John McCain lacks the judgement to be president. Palin lost the Miss Alaska beauty pageant, and McCain will lose the election in November. With a choice like this, he deserves to lose. Patrick
Though I do not support McCain, I realize that for him, Palin is a good choice. However, it should be noted that promoting her on the basis of her gender is no better than a statement such as "we need a man for the job!" It should be considered irrelevant, but unfortunately, it is not. Many people certainly will support her due to her gender -- the electorate is, for the most part, not rational. Donovan
I think John McCain made an extremely smart move. Palin is smart and has had experience in leading a state. So what if it's only 20 months. Obama has not done anything for the state of IL. He's been too busy pursuing other interests...his OWN! And he has questionable ties with very questionable people...like Farrakhan, Resko, and others. McCain/Palin is the way for America to go! Glenda
His choice is GROSS. jean
Good choice, I can support his ticket now.I was worried about age before. herb
Her credentials look good but she came out of left field which smells of pandering. It's not helpful that she looks like Geena Davis in "Commander In Chief." Bobbi
Bad move, if he had picked Romney, he would have gotten more votes. This seals my decision for Obama Mike
