Suburban High School Student Arrested After Threat
Police: Riverside-Brookfield Student Threatened To Shoot Another Student
RIVERSIDE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A west suburban high school student was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot another student during an argument in the hallway Thursday. No one was hurt and weapons were not found.
At 10:28 a.m., Riverside police officers responded to Riverside-Brookfield High at 160 Ridgewood Rd. for a report of a juvenile student threatening another juvenile, according to a release from police.
Officers were advised by Assistant Principal John Passarella that a 15-year-old North Riverside boy and a 16-year-old Brookfield boy got into a verbal altercation in a hallway, and the 15-year-old threatened to shoot the other boy, according to the release.
Both teens were taken to the school office and their lockers searched, but no weapons were found.
The 15-year-old was taken to the Riverside Police Department, where his mother met him. The boy told police and his mother that he had just gotten angry and made the comment, according to the release.
When officers asked the boy if he has access to any types of weapons or firearms, and he replied no.
The teen was petitioned to juvenile court on misdemeanor aggravated assault charges and released to his mother's custody.
