Suspicious Package In West Loop Rendered Safe
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A police Bomb and Arson unit rendered a package safe early Thursday after security guards at a West Loop building notified police of the suspicious-looking package on a nearby street.
The discovery was made just before midnight in the 100 block of North Riverside Plaza, according to police. Security in a nearby building notified police after spotting the package on the street, police New Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor said.
A police Bomb and Arson unit was sent to the scene and rendered the package safe about 2:45 a.m., Taylor said. No injuries were reported.
The Boeing Co. is listed at 100 N. Riverside Plaza, according to a Web directory.
The package was found just west of the Chicago River, and the Central District police and police Marine Unit also responded.
