2 Inmates Escape Peoria County Jail

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) ― Two inmates have escaped from the Peoria County Jail, and authorities say a hole was found in the ceiling of a second floor cell.

Peoria County Sheriff Michael McCoy says the two men escaped through the roof of the jail.

In a news release, McCoy says the men were accounted for at 8 p.m. Monday and were discovered missing at 7 a.m. Tuesday. The sheriff says officers are searching for the escapees.

The escaped inmates were identified as 44-year-old James Fuller and 28-year-old Aaron Cook. Fuller was jailed on bond pending charges of home invasion and criminal sexual assault. Cook also was held on bond pending aggravated battery of a child and other charges.

The sheriff says both inmates are considered "extremely dangerous."
