With the economic meltdown, two wars and myriad other issues, Barack Obama also dealt with one other pressing issue at his first news conference as president elect: The first dog.
He said the debate about what kind of puppy to buy his daugthers Malia and
Sasha has drawn massive debate on his website and in his own home--no doubt.
Since Malia is allergic, the dog has to be
hypoallergenic. The Obamas also want a shelter dog, "but obviously a lot
of shelter dogs are mutts, like me," Obama quipped. A mutt would make it tougher to ensure against an allergic reaction for Malia.
He added that his wife, Michelle, would scout out schools for Malia and Sasha to attend in Washington.
