Bus Driver, Passenger Injured In Oak Park Crash
OAK PARK, Ill. (CBS) ―
A bus driver and a passenger were sent to the hospital on Tuesdsay after the driver lost control and struck nearly a dozen parked cars, officials said.
The accident happened on Lake Street, just a few blocks west of Oak Park Avenue.
Oak Park village spokesman David Powers said the small bus made a right turn off of Forest Avenue onto Lake Street when the driver struck a vehicle going westbound on Lake. The driver then hit several parked cars before the mini bus stopped. A total of 11 cars were hit by the bus.
The driver, who was employed by Pace, and the passenger were being treated for their injuries, which were not serious, Powers said.
The bus is owned by Pace but operated by Oak Park Township, which uses it to transport seniors and people with disabilities.
Pace officials said the cause of the crash is unknown and that the driver will undergo drug and alcohol testing.
