Note Threatening Robbery At Northwest Side Jewel

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― Police are on the scene of a Jewel Osco store in the Northwest Side's Avondale neighborhood after a note was found on the counter of a TCF Bank branch at the store stating a robbery would occur Monday morning.

A note stating that there would be a robbery at 9 a.m. Monday was placed near a TCF Bank branch inside the Jewel Osco store at 3570 N. Elston Ave., according to Albany Park District police.

Chicago police had a car on the scene as a precautionary measure, but the note was likely left by someone who had an "axe to grind" with the bank, police said.

The robbery was not expected to happen, but police are working to identify the person who left the threatening note.
