The husband of a woman killed in a Burger King in the far north suburbs said his wife was living in fear.
CBS 2's North Suburban Bureau Chief Katie McCall reports Mary Hutchison survived a brutal robbery at another Burger King, and her husband said after transferring to this restaurant she was just starting to feel safe.
"It's just gonna be hard without her," said Ken Hutchinson, the victim's husband.
With his two daughters by his side, Hutchison told reporters he met his wife Mary 15 years ago at a Burger King, and that her murder has left him broken hearted.
"She was a great person. She helped anyone who needed it," said Hutchinson.
Police say the 45-year-old arrived at the Lindenhurst restaurant just before 4 a.m. Monday to prepare inventory, and by 5:15 a.m. she was dead.
A fellow employee found her body inside an office beside an open safe.
Sources say she died from blunt force trauma and three stab wounds to the back.
Hutchison transferred to the Lindenhurst location in June after surviving a robbery and attack at an Antioch Burger King in February during which she was beaten severely.
Police are investigating a connection between the two crimes.
"At Lindenhurst she felt a little more secured," her husband said.
Mary Hutchison was still seeing a counselor to help her continue working; her husband said he admired her courage.
"She loved her work and she was good at it," he said.
Sources tell CBS 2 the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force interrogated a suspect Monday night, and that the former Burger King employee was released after hiring an attorney.
Ken Hutchison says he wants nothing more than for police to catch his wife's killer.
"Please come forward. The only thing I want is justice. I know I'm never gonna get her back," he said.
Burger King and Crimestoppers are offering a reward of $11,000 for information in this case.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers or the Lindenhurst Police.
