LINDENHURST, Ill. (CBS) ― Detectives appear to be zeroing in a suspect in the murder of a Burger King restaurant manager.

Police searched his apartment Thursday. The search, which began at 7a.m., comes just one day after police drained a nearby pond looking for evidence.

Early Thursday morning dozens of investigators from the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force descended on the Lakeview Terrace Apartments in Lake Villa. They came to search an apartment where they have been before.

On Monday, they interviewed a former Burger King employee who lives there. Sources say he is the primary suspect in the murder of Burger King Manager Mary Hutchison.

"He's just really upset with the way things are coming about," said a friend of the suspect. He believes the man police have questioned, and whose apartment he says was turned upside down Thursday morning, is innocent.

"It's unfortunate for him that he's got to deal with it," the friend said.

The man says police have questioned three of his friends who have all worked at the Burger King with Hutchison.

"They have nothing but good things to say about her, or did in the past," he said. He feels they could not have been involved in her murder.

So far, investigators are not commenting on anything they recovered from the apartment.

Since the mother of three was stabbed early Monday morning police have searched a pond, posted fliers and are offering an $11,000 reward for information leading to the killer.

But even still, no arrests were made as of Thursday night.

Mary Hutchison's funeral is scheduled for Friday.
