Woman: 'Killed Man In Wheelchair In Self-Defense'

Man Stabbed 50 Times

BLOOMINGTON (AP) ― An inquest has concluded that a 30-year-old disabled man who was killed earlier this year in Bloomington suffered 50 stab wounds.

Thirty-year-old Guadelupe Medina was charged in June with second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend Alberto Ramos, who used a wheelchair due to the effects of polio.

Jurors ruled in yesterday's inquest that Ramos' death on May 26th was a homicide.

Medina has said she acted in self defense. According to court documents, she told investigators that Ramos instigated the incident by attacking her with a knife.

The Honduran native is being held in jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. She also faces a federal immigration case after authorities accused her of entering the United States illegally.
