Field Museum Reaches 500K Mark For King Tut

High Response Has Led Museum To Extend Exhibit's Hours

CHICAGO (AP) ― The Field Museum has sold about 500,000 tickets to its King Tut exhibit.

And the high response has prompted the Chicago museum to extend the hours for people to view "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs" on several days in August and September.

The Field says the Tut exhibit has drawn groups from 41 different states, and some visitors viewing the exhibit hail from as far away as Alaska and Brazil.

The exhibition features more than 130 treasures from the resting place of the pharaoh known as "the boy king" and other royal tombs. All the objects are at least 3,500 years old.

The exhibit is organized by National Geographic and runs through Jan. 1. Tickets cost $25 for adults.
