SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) ― A published report says Gov. Rod Blagojevich paid a professional makeup artist $600 to look good for his annual budget speech.

Lee Enterprise newspapers are reporting Saturday that the state paid the money to Deborah Dee, a professional stylist from Crystal Lake.

The governor's office says the state will be reimbursed, providing documents showing that the governor's campaign fund also paid the bill.

Blagojevich spokeswoman Abby Ottenhoff says Dee has sent a check to reimburse the state.

Ottenhoff says the amount covered more than makeup; it included payment for Dee's travel and consultation on lighting.

Blagojevich has faced criticism recently for spending $5,800 in taxpayer money for daily flights from his Chicago home to Springfield.
