Man Critically Injured When Harley Strikes Deer

RILEY TOWNSHIP (STNG) ― A man was in critical condition after the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer in unincorporated McHenry County near northwest suburban Marengo Sunday night.

Matthew H. Madey was driving a 1996 Harley Davidson west on Harmony Road when he struck a deer in the road 150 feet east of Maple Street about 7:45 p.m. After hitting the deer, the motorcycle slid west on Harmony Road and came to rest on the north shoulder of Harmony Road, according to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff's office.

Madey, who was not wearing a helmet, was airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

The crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Police Major Accident Investigation Unit.
