LINDENHURST, Ill. (CBS) ―
Significant new developments were made Tuesday in the murder of a North Suburban restaurant manager.
Mary Hutchison was found murdered inside a Burger King in Lindenhurst early Monday morning.
A source tells CBS 2 police questioned a former employee late Monday night.
CBS 2's Joanie Lum reports police have since released that former employee.
Lake Villa police confirm they assisted the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Monday night in bringing in a person of interest.
A source tells CBS 2 that person was a former Burger King employee, and during questioning, became a suspect.
Police released that person Monday night and Tuesday say they have no one in custody.
Friends brought meals and extended condolences to the family of Mary Hutchison. Her Trevor, Wis., home is decorated for the holidays while grief consumes the neighborhood.
The 45-year-old woman was found dead Monday morning inside the Lindenhurst Burger King restaurant she managed.
She had arrived at 4 a.m. to conduct an inventory; her body was found at about 5:15 a.m. A source tells CBS 2 Hutchison was beaten and stabbed.
Hutchison was the manager on duty at an Antioch Burger King when three masked men robbed the restaurant last February. Family members say she was injured and traumatized, so she transferred to Lindenhurst in June.
The franchise owners announced a new reward for information that will help find her killer.
"We are adding to the $1,000 for a total $11,000 reward," said Fox Lake Dining corporate affairs spokesperson Chris Ondrula.
Lindenhurst police say they have talked to former Burger King employees.
"Dozens of interviews have been conducted, they are sources of info, that could possibly relate to the crime," said Chief Jack McKeever of the Lindenhurst Police Department.
Burger King Company officials declined to say what kind of alarm or video surveillance system was in place, and no one was ever arrested for the Burger King robbery in Antioch.
Mary Hutchison's husband will hold a news conference at their home in Wisconsin Tuesday night.
