Brawl Outside Lincoln Park High Ends In 12 Arrests
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Twelve juveniles were arrested after a fight outside a North Side high school in the Lincoln Park neighborhood Friday morning, which hurt at least one boy.
About 8:30 a.m. a group of eight boys - all students -- were engaged in a fight outside Lincoln Park High at 2001 N. Orchard St., according to Chicago Public Schools spokesman Frank Shuftan.
One boy who has braces on his teeth suffered a "bloody mouth'' after he was apparently punched during the fight, according to Shuftan.
Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado said an ambulance was sent to the scene at 9:20 a.m., but there was no one transported to a hospital.
School security officers, with the assistance of two Chicago Police officers stationed at the school, broke up the fight, which occurred after classes had started at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Shuftan said.
CPS spokesman Mike Vaughn said 11 boys and one girl were arrested following the brawl, and charges were pending against the juveniles as of 7 p.m.
