CHICAGO (CBS) ― There's another twist in the high-profile murder of a Chicago doctor. What could have been a key clue turned out to be nothing.

As CBS 2's Jim Williams reports, members of the slain dermatologist's family refuse to give up on their quest for justice.

For Dr. David Cornbleet's son, a recent discovery is yet another dead end in the hunt for his father's killer.

"It's enormously frustrating but you can't get frustrated," said Jon Cornbleet. "Right off the bat we knew this was going to be a hard case."

Last October, David Cornbleet was found bound, gagged and stabbed to death at his office on Michigan Avenue.

Police found an item there that's sold exclusively at Home Depot stores.

A surveillance video showed a man buying the same kind of item at the Home Depot on North Halsted Street, one month before the murder.

The Cornbleet family paid to have the video enhanced and it aired on Chicago television stations.

The man in the video recognized himself and voluntarily talked to police.

"The individual did come forth to detectives at area and basically provided statements he had no information regarding investigation of the case," said Chicago police spokesperson Monique Bond.

The man -- who was never considered a suspect -- has been cleared.

"I'd to first of all would like to apologize to the person for any inconvenience this might have caused him," Cornbleet said. "I feel terrible somebody accused or brought into this."

Cornbleet is now focused on finding other leads.

He says his family and the police department will get a boost at the end of the month when the television show "America's Most Wanted" airs a segment on the case.
