3 Inmates Stabbed At Cook County Jail
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
Just over an hour after five people, including three deputies, were injured in a Cook County courtroom, three inmates were seriously injured in a stabbing Wednesday evening at the Cook County Jail.
Three inmates were stabbed at 2600 S. California Ave. and were taken in serious to "stable" condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva.
Three inmates suffered stab wounds after they were involved in a fight in Division One, the maximum security area, about 5:40 p.m. during dinner in a day room, Cook County Sheriff's police spokeswoman Penny Mateck said.
Four shanks were recovered from the inmates.
Sheriff's police are on the scene Wednesday night investigating. No charges have been filed against the inmates, as of 8 p.m., Mateck said.
