3 Charged In North Suburban Home Invasion
Wisconsin Men Showed Up With Gift Basket, Attacked Hawthorn Woods Homeowner
HAWTHORN WOODS, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Three Wisconsin men face up to 30 years in prison if convicted in a far northwest suburban Hawthorn Woods home invasion case.
Michael Thompson, 37, of Black River Falls, Wis; Robert Lichtie, 70, of Cashton, Wis.; and Jeffery Zielke, 33, of Lewiston, Wis., are charged with home invasion, armed robbery, theft and residential burglary.
The three men allegedly approached a Hawthorn Woods home with a gift basket, according to Assistant State's Attorney Tim Niehus. When the homeowner answered the door, they shocked him three to six times with a Taser, zip-tied him to a chair, duct-taped his eyes and demanded that he turn over his money and the combination to the family safe, Niehus said.
The homeowner refused and the men fled, Niehus said.
The three co-defendants targeted the Riverwoods man because Lichtie had seen him at his hunting lodge in northern Wisconsin, Niehus said.
The three entered not-guilty pleas at their arraignment about two weeks ago. They appeared in court Thursday to get another pretrial date, which is scheduled for March 26.
