Gun violence in Chicago has claimed the life of another teen victim and advocates of gun control are once again calling for stricter laws.
"We are demanding the legislators get a backbone, get a backbone and get the courage to save our children and pass stricter gun laws," said Father Michael Pfleger, representing the anti-violence group Save Our Children.
The medical examiner Friday afternoon identified a body found in a garbage can in the Englewood neighborhood as 15-year-old Marcellus Daniel. He was shot in the head.
David Thomas discovered the body.
"He didn't get a chance to see what life's about," he said. "They just snapped his life away like he was nothing and then put him in the garbage can like he's a piece of trash."
Daniel's death and the death of a Chicago public school student Thursday marks at least 18 kids killed by gunfire this year.
