Chicago Gang Member Captured In Wisconsin

Anonymous Tip Led Federal Agents To Daniel Bonilla

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A Chicago gang member on the run since being charged following a 2008 drug investigation was apprehended in Wisconsin on Monday after an anonymous tip led federal agents to him.

Daniel Bonilla, 26, whose last known address was 2544 N. Harding Ave., has been the subject of a nationwide manhunt since October 2008, when he was charged with violations of federal drug and weapons laws, according to a release from the FBI.

Bonilla, allegedly a member of the Spanish Cobras street gang, was charged as part of a drug investigation deemed "Operation Snake Charmer," which involved 30 gang members, the release said.

Bonilla has been on the run since he was charged, and an anonymous tipster saw his photo in a "Wanted" flyer online and called the FBI, the release said. The tipster said they saw Bonilla in Fond du Lac, Wis., where he was arrested without incident.

Bonilla was taken back to Chicago, where he was ordered held without bond, the release said.
