Alderman Wants Foie Gras Ban To Stay
Opposition Say Ban "Embarrassed" Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
A Chicago alderman is fighting to keep the city's ban on foie gras in place.
Ald. Joe Moore and a number of animal welfare groups, humane organizations and religious leaders this morning said they are concerned that some aldermen want to revisit and perhaps overturn the ban.
Groups that are speaking out about the ban include the Farm Sanctuary and the Humane Society of America.
Moore says the delicacy is a result of inhumane treatment of geese, and the city's ban should be upheld.

Ald. Bernie Stone and Ald. Burton Natarus says the foie gras ban embarrassed Chicago, and they believe it goes too far government telling people how to live their lives.
