CROWN POINT, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
An East Chicago man has been charged with burglary, rape and criminal deviate conduct in Lake County, Ind.
Donald Keujuan Wilburn, 32, of the 4000 block of Drummond Street, faces a maximum 20-year prison sentence if convicted of the charges filed Tuesday.
Wilburn is charged with burglarizing a residence in the 6700 block of Huron Avenue in Hammond. A woman said she awoke early June 16 to discover a man later identified as Wilburn trying to pull down her underwear. The woman recognized Wilburn, her former boyfriend, after she turned on the light, the probable cause affidavit states. Her bedroom window had been closed but not locked.
Wilburn covered the woman's mouth after she screamed and struggled with her before he forced her to engage in sexual activity and raped her, then held her on her bed.
The woman said after her alarm went off at 4 a.m., Wilburn got dressed and left. The woman called her daughter, who called police.
She had swollen lips, scratches on her neck and soreness to her hand and one finger.
