Man Killed In South Side Drive-By

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A man was fatally shot near his home Monday afternoon during a possible drive-by on the Far South Side.

The shooting happened about 2:50 p.m. in the 11200 block of South Vernon Avenue, police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said.

Jonathan McGinnis, 27, was pronounced dead at Roseland Community Hospital at 2:52 p.m., a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

The man was possibly shot in a drive-by, Ursitti said.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
