CTA Driver, 4 Others Hurt In Southwest Side Crash
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A crash on the Southwest Side involving a CTA bus and two cars injured at least five people early Sunday.
About 5 a.m., a man driving a 2004 Acura south on South Pulaski Road disobeyed a red light at South Archer Avenue and struck a CTA bus traveling east on Archer Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
The crash caused the bus driver to veer out of control and strike a fence near Curie Metropolitan High School at 4959 S. Archer Ave., Mirabelli said.
The Acura also struck a vehicle traveling west on Archer Avenue, injuring one or more of the vehicle's occupants, police said.
The driver of the CTA bus was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and two of the five passengers on the bus were taken to Holy Cross Hospital, Mirabelli said.
The driver of the Acura was also taken to Stroger Hospital and cited for disobeying a red light.
Details on the extent of injuries were unavailable.
