Viewer Comments On Pfleger's Remarks: Part 3
We asked what you think about Rev. Michael Pfleger's comments on Hillary Clinton. Here are your responses:
And this shocks people how? We all know that Obama is in bed with neo-Marxist racists otherwise know as the new left. --Rob in Fla.
Not much. What a doofus and hate monger. Another anti-American bigot that Barry aligns himself with. --Cindy
Father Pfleger is so right in his mocking of Hillary Clinton. The white man has spoken. --Kasey
I truly feel Father Pfleger Has always step outside the norm. I Was an active member of the church for many years I Was baptisied by Father Pfleger and was an alter boy at the church. In some regards I am didiapponted by his words and feel he in some cases may over step his role as far as mixing church and politics into the topics of public discussion. --Past Member
I think that any preacher who makes political speeches advocating any politician running for office ought to have their church's tax exempt status revoked and they should be disallowed to even call it a church. --Pamela Ladewig
I think he was right about her sense of entitlement. I also think she's slyly pushed the "hard-working white" issue. Too bad he had to rant so. Truth hurts, however. --Marlene Yanik
His comments and delivery were not appropriate & most certainly not acceptable especially for a Catholic priest. He needs to be stripped of his collar. And the congregation that sat there and laughed are no better. There was nothing amuzing about any of it. --Ursula
I can't believe that one person-Father Pfleger can taint this whole campaign. Obama better run away from this idiot. I can see it now: Dems lose another easy election to the Republicans --Mike M.
"Father" Pfleger shucks & jives with the best of them. --"Disgusted"
He told the truth; so, why is the darn media blowing it out of proportion. Granny always said that "the truth shall set you free". If you can't take the heat - get out of the kitchen. --Tyrone Walker
They're sexist as well as racist. I've always suspected people like him whose self-interest appears entirely subsumed in altruism. No one's life is 100% satisfactory. BTW I don't think any of the candidates would do a thing for me. --Jean SmilingCoyote
Disgusting. Why are Obama's church & Pfleger's church enjoying tax free status??? If they want to engage in politics, PAY YOUR TAXES, like the rest of us! --MJ
I am a practicing Catholic in the city of Chicago and call upon the Cardinal to remove this man from the pulpit. Father Pfleger needs to follow all the other fallen priests and go to a retreat house where he can gain prospective on why he is a Catholic and a priest. I do not support Obama or Clinton, but I do support the Catholic Church and believe they will do the right thing. Mrs. Clinton, this is NOT how Catholic's act, especially a priest and his comments contradicts doctrine. I am truly sorry for his comments and behavior. --Stacy Kropp
SNL made all kinds of assertions in the name of comedy and no one is offended. But let it come from Trinity Church and everyone is upset and disappointed. The truth is Mrs. Clinton felt entitled otherwise she would have run a better campaign. That's the truth. Even in the face of eventual lost, she cannot accept that Mr. Obama will eventually end up becoming the nominee because she feels entitled. That's the truth. She refuses to conceede because no black candidate is more capable than she is, that's her truth. I wonder, if Mr. Obama had been white and she found herself in this position would she continue to fight? I think not, she would have settled for VP in a heartbeat the problem is Mr. Obama is black and she will never take a back seat to a black candidate and THAT'S THE TRUTH. --Anonymous
Utterly disgraceful! What's worrying to me as an Obama supporter is that this kindo f hate speech represents a pattern, and surely Obama's judgment must be called into question? (This is the man who supposedly mediated between Rev Wright and Obama and who was on his advisory board until a few weeks ago!) --Mike
Not surprised by the comments about Hillary by Father Pfleger. He is the pastor of St. Sabrina's church in Chicago which according to their website, David Axelrod is on their committee to raise money for the Pfleger's church. I believe he is Obama's campaign manager. --Mary
I could not believe that was a Catholic priest speaking and acting that way, in a church, no less! I am a life long Catholic, and I have never heard a priest mock a human being from the alter. This priest, and I use that term lightly, looks like he was auditioning for "Last Comic Standing". Father Pfleger should be sent on a very long Sabbatical. --Teresa
Pfleger is just like the others in the cabal surrounding Obama in Chicago--a complete nutwad and/or crooked. Are there any true clergymen in Chicago? --William R. Hurt
i chortle as much as i am aghast --"chortle"
Yet another insight into the muslim obama --Kevin Olson
First of all, what ever happened to seperation of church and state? Fr. Pfleger has no business making public his political affiliations. Who cares what he thinks? Certainly not this faithful Catholic! Fr. Pfleger's remarks have no doubt had the opposite effect and have served to hurt Obama and the Catholic Church. In my opinion he is and always has been an embarassment to the church! --Marcia Fitzpatrick
What is untrue about them? --Larry
I think the Father does a lot of good for many causes. Who recorded this? I am not a Hillary supporter, so I am not offended by it at all. As far as I am concerned, he spoke what a lot of people think. --Susan
It's just so very sad. I'm ashamed that this has happened again during such a historical moment in history. --Forstine Jackson
Typical ful and racist speech of Liberation theology and Marxist/Leninist revolutionaries parading themselves as "Christians." --Nancy
I think it's long past time for intelligent black people to recognize that they are doing as much to prolong prejudice as are white people. They seem to assume a person thinks a particular way simply because they are white, rather than because of their upbringing and social perspective. --Nina Bouska
Father Pfleger is out of control, once again. He has a disease known as white man's guilt. He believes everything bad in the world can be attributed to white male Americans. This "disease" is brought on by years of exposure to a toxic liberal media aided by an incredibly liberal education system. The cure is to learn to use logic and reason instead of kneejerk emotional responses to life's problems. Emotional thinking is what truly becomes destructive and Father Pfleger is a very emotional guy. --Steve
They were right on with a bit of tweaking to include gender as well as race, etc. --Ken
Pathetic, guilt-ridden liberal pig. --Darek
I agreed with much of what Father Pfleger said, I was not offended by the truth and no one should be, those who are adult enough to contextualize comments and opinions would of course not be offended it is only those who react from unreasoned emotion who would be, as far as Hillary Clinton is concerned put your seat belts on 1968 will be revisited just watch. --Willard McKenzie
he should be stripped of his priesthood. --Bill
It's not so much what I think about his comments, but more how I view the cheering congregation. Racism in its truest form! --Joyce
right on!!! --Roy Mertz
I agree with Father Pfleger's comments. What's hateful are the comments from the Fox News person who said Sen. Obama should be done away with or Huckabee's comments about the senator being in the sites of a rifle. And Sen. Clinton's comments about an assasination. These comments are hateful. Father Pflegers comments are true. She does feel entitled. --Ann Jenkins
I think his comments are hateful and have absolutely no place in the House of God. He should be preaching of love and coming together. He should be removed from his post. --Enza
I sent an email before having only seen the Clinton section of his speech. Now I watched entire speech from the YouTube website and am disgusted with this priest. His condemnation of whites and his ideas of what whites think of our "beneficiaries" of what our prior fathers have done is outrageous! This sermon has just created a mockery out of the movement to become one without racism. Also Cardinal George's statement is far from adequate to cover the statements he made against whites let alone Mrs. Clinton! He needs to consider removing him from office and sending him back to the seminary for classes on forgiveness and charity. This paster is not teaching to this other denomination what our beliefs as Catholics is and I am just embarrassed once again by our actions of our priest and the inability of our "executive" branch to take a solid action against one of their own. --Maryann Molina
What is a Catholic priest doing in a non-Catholic church preaching hate. Both my husband and I like Hillary Clinton and find his sermon mocking her just unbelievable. Why isn't he thrown out of the Catholic church? What a clown he is. --Sandra Riley
I'm no Hillary fan but I think Fr. Pfleger's behavior was really crass and as a Catholic, I am embarassed by it. If I was the bishop in his diocese, I would wrap his ears around his head and pin them! What a shame to see such behavior coming from a church leader! --MLR
His remarks are a disgrace to the Catholic Church. This is nothing new; Fr Pfleger has been representing anti-Catholic views for years and I think he should be defrocked. I also think that the tax-exempt status should be revoked from Trinity Church and St. Sabina's as well. --Kathy
Pathetic, but what would you expect from this "church"? Why hasn't anyone asked Oprah why she doesn't go there anymore? And to make it worse, the guys in the choir jumping up and down and laughing like it was a comedian throwing out jokes - what a church. This is as bad as watching some scumbag Klansmen at a rally and really no different. --Chris
For any member of the clergy to mock and ridicule another person is reprehensible and contradictory to peace and good will. --Stephen M. Pill
I think the comments he made were not appropriate coming from clergy. Why should Senator Obama always have to apologize again for these comments that are not his views. I am sick of all the hype. Focus on the issues at hand, a presidental candidate for the Democratic Convention in August. --Carol W.
Let's just ask, what would have happened if these same remarks were made in a white church by a supporter of Hillary Clinton? Hate crime? Bigots, racists and Reverend Al Sharpton marching on the congregation? I am sick of the double standard. If you want to get beyond racism, you have to realize that two wrongs do not make a right. As of now, I only see a community looking for revenge not unity. I fear for our nation. --ADKrick
