Viewer Comments On Pfleger's Remarks: Part 2
We asked what you think about Rev. Michael Pfleger's comments on Hillary Clinton. Here are your responses:
These comments are totally out of line. What has happened to seperation of church and state?? All these ministers need to practice their particular religion and keep politics out of the pulpit. --Sundance
I was shocked and embarrassed that one of my Roman Cathlic priest whould preach a sermon which degraded and made judgements upon another person. I do not go to St. Sabina, but now wonder what he is preaching there. I have contacted the the racial program group on the Archdioses' website and have asked them to get him into a class and to get Cardinal George to muzzle him. It is one thing to support your political candidate, but he is committing a sin in degrading another. --Maryann Molina
This priest has correctly summed up Hillary and her campaign in less then two minutes! He deserves prause for his candor & courage. --John
I must say that I agree with his remarks. I'm just stunned at the pandemic of foot in mouth disease we're seeing in this primary season. --corky421
I'm Sorry,..Did he say something wrong??? Growing up as both black and white, I have had the privilege of always seeing both sides to every story. I HAVE seen white people with entitlement issues, just as i have seen Black people with their own issues too! I think Americans needs to stop acting so offended by every racial comment because in REALITY, differences between races DOES exist. That doesnt mean however it is always a BAD thing.. Sometimes its simply funny to poke fun of differences. Lighten up!! Afterall, we poke fun of our own sisters and brothers and family members, Don't we?? --Trina; Hessville, IN
I think Pfleger's church spends to much time in the secular world and not enough time living a Christ like life. Isn't that what christians are supposed to do? Obama, Pfleger and that church are christian....right? --Michael
This guy doesn't belong in any church, Catholic or otherwise. Like many of his ilk,he needs a course in humility. --M.A. King
I have no respect for Fr Pfleger. I am ashamed as a catholic of his actions. After what the church has gone thru with the sex scandel to have some one do something like this is unacceptable. He should be removed from his parish and sent to a retreat to think about his future. I don't think he should be a part of the catholic church. --W. Wojkowski
Father Pfleger! When will this moron just go away!? He has been an embarrassment to the Catholic church for years, and this is just another example of his hatred for his own people! As a minority myself, who does he think he is mocking his own race? Someone needs to remind him he is not black! Rev. White and Father Pfleger are just fear mongering, backwards thinking, racist pigs! Go away! --Nane
This man is neither a Christian nor a man of God. His remarks where outrageous, however considering the track record of this church what do you expect. Obama will not get my vote - because of his beliefs, character, and he dangerous for America. The old saying "tell me who your friends are, and I'll tell you what you are", is applicable when looking at Obama. He is a farce and the members of his home church are nothing more than bigots. They display more hatred than any group or gang existing today. --Maryanne Watkins
I don't see what race has to do with this. People in this country claim they want equality, yet race is always brought up by those very people. If black people want equality why call the race card every time something unfortunate happens. --Someone
I am incensed not only by what the "Father" had to say, but by the fact that so many people think white people feel entitled. The only thing I feel entitled to do is work hard and try to make a living. I don't feel entitled to anything because I'm white. Stop lumping all white people together and we will stop lumping all black people together. --LG
Three brief points: first, the good father reminds me of one of those pathetic rich white kids who gets off on playing at being black and "cool"; second, the people who cheered both Pfleger's and Jeremiah Wright's hateful rants are the same people that Barack Obama has shared a pew with for the last 20-plus years. This underscores the old saying that you can best tell the worth of a man by looking at who he associates himself with; and, third, the response of the "congregation" to Pfleger's wannabe hip rapster demonstration lifts the lid on an ugly reality that no one has the guts to address: black racism and the sad fact that blacks can be as condescendingly hateful and racist as anybody else...they just aren't held accountable. --MDWhite
I feel that he was well with in his rights to exprees how he feels about Hillary, because she have been playing ditry all through this election. He was saw as she were, I don't like her as a person. Because I feel she is the weakest link through through this whole ordeal and she plays dirty pool. And I feel she's too weak to take this country forward, and also she won't be president; her husband Bill will be running things from behind the scenes. People better wake up and smell the coffee. I personally want some to be stong and resourceful and truthful. Hillary always act like she's the victim because she's a woman. She needs to toughen up and quit tearing up. As far as Obama goes, people need to stop trying to hold him for what other people say. It is unfair to him as a person and politician, their only doing this because he's black and stands a great chance of being our next president of this nation. It should not matter what color of his skin is as long as he can take this country forward and unite people as one. So I say get ready because a change has to come. --Miriam Sing
He needs to be removed from the pulpit!!!!!! Cardinal George, where are you!!!!! Another embarresment for the Catholic Church!!!!!!! --Anonymous
He said what everyone is thinking. Our Leaders are afraid to speak the truth. The truth hurts and people would rather hear a lie instead of the truth. Hillary has become a mockery for WOMEN who are truely trying to compete in a Man dominant career. She has shown why women do not hold more coporate positions in America because of her stubborness. Hillary is all about herself and not about America. I truely wanted to vote for her but she has shown she is not the leader to lead America because when things don't go her way, I will just not compromise and will just hold everything up. That is not the game to be with other countries. --Karen
at Zanies it would be hysterical, but in a church it is not appropriate. --Annette Peterson
I feel Father Pfleger should have done the speech at his own church not the one Obama attends if he felt that way. It was harsh but a lot of people feel the same way about Clinton and her phony sympathy tears. I also feel the media is causing the negative attitude towards Obama by blaming him for everyone's statements against Clinton. No one has told or insisted that Clinton denounce the people from her camp like Mr. Penn among others that have made outrageous statements or gone to other countries secretly talking about NAFTA!! Hillary herself consistantly makes racist and prejudiced statements toward Obama openly and gets away with it. Her comments over and over about the white non-college voters should be offensive to them because it carries a negative tone. She would not be treated with kid gloves if she had not been the wife of a former president. Hillary is causing the world to look at the U. S. as being mixed up and confused not strong and powerful! --J. Haney
BIG NOISE FROM A MAN OF THE CLOTH WHO SHOULD KEEP HIS VIEWS ON THE CHURCH AND STAY OUT OF POLITICS. I NO LONGER SUPPORT OBAMA. I LIKE HIM AS A SENATOR NOT A PRESIDENT --Michael Prete
Actually I think the comments were right on the mark. --iemking
People don't like to hear the truth, and sometimes what they hear might shock them, but it is true. Everyone is talking about how Hillary is losing due to sexism, but no one talks about the racism that Obama has had to(and is still trying to) overcome to get to where he is. --rsaba
He's offensive. A White man trying to sound like brother! --Steve
I could personally care less about Hillary Clinton, but this is yet another example of a major Obama associate giving us a glimpse of what is really in the heart of the empty suit, Barack Hussein Obama. America needs to wake up before we make the worst mistake of our lives. --Mark
Liberals always miss the point. She's entitled because of her gender, stupid. --Jill
Mocking another Democrat when the real race will be with John McCain is short sighted and all the political rhetoric will be used up and old by the time the presidential bid is going. --Joe
His comments were completely inappropriate and he is an absolute disgrace to my religion. --Tammy Matteson
As much as it sounds divisive and uncalled for, but what actually stated makes senses in regard to what Hillary is doing in staying the race while it is over by all accounts. I wish some comedian that is not affiliated to Obama made the statement and all people will be lol. --Mike
As a Catholic, I am embarrassed. The church is no place for this political diatribe. What kind of "church" cheers on such divisive hate speech? --Jim
I think this self loathing, white hating clown was sent/invited to speak at the church solely as a ploy to build a storyline/myth that says, "see Rev. Wright isn't the only crazy preacher". Of course his point about Hillary feeling "entitled" is true, but No more so than Obama feeling entitled. She because of her charmed life of privilege, first lady and all that. Obama because of the privilege of affimative action and the black privilege that comes along with it.They are both victims of their own victimhood. --Alan Landers
It was very unchristian. You and hateful people like you give us loving Christians a bad name! You hypocrite! The bible says that God will bless nations that bless Israel and curse countries that curse Israel, so why are you supporting an anti semitic? --Shari
I have watched Fr.Pleger for more than 20 yrs. He is a native of Chicago who has a phoney southern accent and plays an angry black man trapped in a white man's body. The various Cardinals have been afraid of him so he gets away with his antics. However, why are these churches getting tax exempt status when they are political platforms is the real issue. --Rick Atzlan
I ask: Who is making this campaign about race, whites or blacks?? --Mike
"Father" Pfleger's remarks were disgusting and outrageous, but typical for him. In my opinion is far-left activist who uses religion as a front for his revolutionary socialism. His comments in Obama's church are more evidence of exactly the extremist hotbed it is and should be investigated by the IRS. --Forrest
I was HORRIFIED. I voted for Sen. Obama for senator, and would take it back if only I could, for a person who surrounds himself with such dispicable people as have come forward in the last few months, including Dorn and Ayers, who continue their arrogance and influence young people in the universities where they teach, terrifies me. All I can say is Please, God Help us, because our government isn't! What is going on in this country? Why can't people see what is going on? Is no one afraid but me? --Frances Wilson
The comments of the "good" Reverend Pfleger are more telling of Barack H. Obama than they are shocking about what was said about Hillary. Who is this fabricated character called Obama? He has a lot of radical friends and mentors, Wright, Ayers, Pfleger, and how many more? Just who is this Barack Obama? --Highplainsdrifter
I believe he is dead on... Hillary is a loser... Even if she was the 1st Black 1st woman (not a lady)... --James
This man appears to be pandering to this unique audience rather than judiciously speaking the truth. He is judgmentally pointing the finger and stirring up strife instead of bringing peace. He has injured the social fabric and poisoned the public discourse. Dear Priest, get back to your calling, your dignity and your honor. Church hierachy, rein in this maverick! --Michael
Pfleger is an idiot. The Catholic Church continues to shoot itself in the foot. It is a disgrace he would speak in a place where racism and hatred is preached. --Don Niedospial
First, I think that Mr. Obama should resign from this church that is obviously more concerned with Publicity rather than what they are supposed to preach... Peace, isn't that was the Protestant / Christian religion is about? Maybe I just don't understand these churches today, but I've never had my priest say "damn" or yell in a sermon. Isn't that blasphemy? I also blame the media for spreading this throught the country. Last I heard we have something called separation of church and state. It's time Obama, resign from this church, unless you truly believe in what these people are saying... if that's true, then we have a problem. And one last note to America, I was raised not to be racist but apparently its seem a large majority seemed to teach hate and judge a person because of their skin or religion. I was taught to not to judge people at all until you see their true character. America, you are probably the most racist country in the world. You have to admit that. --Adam
